Vassar—A Summer Location for Filmmakers
and Scholars
Vassar frequently plays host to distinguished film artists.
In the summer the New
York Stage and Film Company makes Vassar its home; the
Flaherty Film
Seminar, a renowned organization of documentary filmmakers,
regularly hosts its annual conference here. In addition, our department
holds a summer filmmaking workshop for Vassar students and outside applicants.

Visiting Filmmakers, Critics and Academics
During the academic year visitors come to show their works,
give lectures, visit classes and meet with faculty and students
in informal settings. Vassar invites filmmakers who specialize
in all areas of film production—from Hollywood insiders
to the latest experimental video artists, from local filmmakers
to international celebrities. These visitors generate a
great deal of excitement on campus, but more importantly
they enrich our curriculum and inspire our students. Here
is a partial list of guests who have visited in recent years.
